Who We Are
The Pear Card is run and operated by Pear Trading Ltd, a newly formed Lancaster-based company solely dedicated to strengthening the local economy for the benefit of all local businesses and citizens. To play its part in this process Pear Trading Ltd is developing and operating the Pear Trade system in collaboration with the following Lancaster-based businesses. All our partners are members of The Ethical Small Traders Association.
Michael Hallam
Is the Founder Director of Pear Trading Ltd and the architect of the business and trading model that underpins the Pear Trade system. Since 2008, which is the year in which we all started to take an interest in economics, Michael has been giving talks and workshops on sustainable economics. But his research goes back to the mid 90's when he co-founded a Lets System in Stourbridge, West Midlands.
Michael initiated the research process that eventually led to the BARTER Project.
He is also the founder of The Ethical Small Traders Associaiton [ESTA] which is a Lancaster based collaborative network for local freelancers, sole traders, retailers, SMe's local social enterprises. ESTA works on a collaborative basis and encourages its members to be operate as sustainably as they can without being overly presecriptive. All of the collaborative team working on the Pear Trading project are members of ESTA.
